Some first hand travel experience post lockdown

Postby MarynaTravelMatters » Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:06 pm

With the world opening up for travel we just wanted to get in touch and see if we could be of any help? Here at Travel Matters we started travelling already with Maryna having just returned from Italy and Karen heading to France. We think that travelling now is a wonderful opportunity to experience places that otherwise were too busy. Maryna loved her visit to Venice, Florence and Tuscany which were far less crowded than usual and her hotels on the Liguran riviera and Lake Maggiore operated at a reduced number of rooms to ensure social distancing and safety. All hotels she has stayed at were very well prepared and have taken every caution to protect their guests from taking your temperature to sanitising and sealing rooms before your arrival.  Airports and airlines are also doing their best to ensure that travellers are as protected as possible with obligatory masks and hand sanitiser stations throughout. Aircrafts are completely sanitised every day with cleaning agents that provide viral protection for at least 24 hours. And if you run out of anything there are vending machines selling masks and hand gel! This is just a polite reminder we are here to help if you want to get away and recharge. We noticed the sentiment of many people wanting to change the scene after the lockdown. We are operating as usual but asking people to email first for appointments. We celebrated 20 years in 2019 and have a loyal following of satisfied clients. We would be delighted to share our expertise and knowledge.  Give us a call on 0208 675 7878 or email us. Looking forward to hearing from you! The Travel Matters Team

"Aircrafts are completely sanitised before each flight"

I think you need to check your facts, as maybe some, but definitely not all airlines are doing this around Europe. I am sure cleaning happens at the end of the day, but not all airlines are doing this between flights - it takes too long. A friend of my parents works for an airline...

 These measures include:
  • The additional cleaning and disinfection procedures for aircraft cabins on top of an existing daily aircraft cleaning schedule with every aircraft subject to a daily disinfection process which provides surface protection from viruses that lasts for at least 24 hours.
  • All passengers and crew will be required to wear masks onboard at all times
  • A limited Bistro service will be available on most flights
  • aircraft are already fitted with state of art filtration technology. High efficiency particle arresting filters (HEPA) filter 99.97% of airborne contaminants in the cabin, including viruses and bacteria. These filters are the same as those used in hospitals and through these the cabin air gets replaced every 3-4 minutes.

Just to add we flew to Portugal and had to go with Ryanair as most airlines had cancelled their flights (it was when the quarantine was still compulsory). They certainly hadn’t sanitised, there was no asking for the bathroom it was just go as normal, no sanitising between the customers using it. My seat and tray table were covered in crumbs and sticky coffee.

At the moment I'm still too afraid to fly anywhere. To be honest I prefer to drive my car that I fully know and won't let any strangers in, so I'm sure there's no covid. I admire people's bravery to already fly during such pandemic, but I'm a diabetic and this group is very vulnerable, so I don't want to risk it  😉
