Driving in the snow - an idea

Postby juliantenniscoach » Thu Jan 07, 2010 12:43 pm

I worked 10 seasons in the Alps and we picked up a few tips to help us. All the rises on the Clapham side of Northcote Road are tricky at the moment especially if you have wide tyres or even worse rear wheel drives (BMW). So easy tip is to let 3 or 4lbs of air pressure out of your drive tyres. That will soften them sufficiently to get better grip. Setting off in 2nd gear is good too but only if your clutch control is good otherwise you'll smell it very quickly! Failing that just be very soft with everything especially the speed and steering. Happy travels!

:D I have a better idea - do not take the car!!!
Try not taking it no matter what the weather and road condiions are like - walk or cycle - its better for you, your kids and the neighbourhood. :D
