Recommendations for a nice restaurant near Bodmin, Cornwall?

Postby stayathomemuminsw11 » Wed Jul 23, 2014 12:24 pm

Hi all,

We're off to Bodmin, Cornwall next month, and would like to go out for dinner one night without the kids.

Last year we went to Jamie Oliver's restaurant in Watergate Bay, and Rick Stein's seafood restaurant in Padstow.

Has anyone got any recommendations for somewhere else to try, that's likely to have a table the week of August 14th-21st? I know I've left it quite late!!

Price wise, not as expensive as Rick Stein! But happy to spend a bit.

Within 20-30 mins drive (max) of Bodmin.

Thanks! x

We've stayed near Bodmin several times and it's tricky to find anywhere really close, but you could try:

which we LOVED. Very special (two star michelin) if you can get in. Probably at the upper end of your distance preference....

Alternatively and much, much more casual, there are is a nice fun bistro much closer, in Fowey - although you can't book. You turn up and then have a drink and wait. http://samscornwall.co.uk/fowey/fowey-home/ Great atmosphere though and amazing seafood.

If you prefer to book and stay close there is the Fowey Hall Hotel, much quieter and mainly full of hotel guests. Easy to park etc. Still lovely though. http://www.foweyhallhotel.co.uk/food-and-drink

Have a lovely time!

If you haven't already, check out Camel Valley Vineyard (www.camelvalley.com) before your meal. On Wednesdays they do a grand tour and wine tasting 5-6.30pm. Their wine is multi award winning and their 'champagne' has just come third in the international sparkling wine awards (the oscars of the wine world). Plus they're very nice people ;)
