Ski holiday recommendations

Postby cosmos99 » Mon Oct 05, 2015 6:15 pm

We're tentatively thinking about our first ski holiday with children, going with another family. Children will be 2,3 and 5.
Will probably need a crèche and ski school options and preferably somewhere we can eat in at night whilst the children sleep.
Any recommendations?
Many thanks

You have an enormous choice available. Depends on your budget, location etc. I would check out a good travel agent like Ski Solutions to help you narrow your field.

Ski Esprit
Ski Beat
VIP Ski
Mark Warner
Scott Dunn

or any chalet you choose and T4 nannies or Merinannies or Cheeky Monkeys Morzine. They are all nanny agencies.......

Oxygene, Magic in Motion or New Generation are all good "international" ski schools.......

Hi
Lots of good suggestions already made here and much will depend on budget.

Of the inclusive type companies Club Med, Mark Warner and Esprit Ski tick lots of boxes for young childcare. Neilson are also offering a lot of great new family products this year.

Happy to help talk through the options if it is easier and narrow it down a bit.

We've done Esprit and Scott Dunn. Esprit wins for us hands down as the childcare is amazing and the kids have the best time!! Scott Dunn we found the childcare less good but smarter accommodation and nicer food. We've decided that the focus on the kids is more important than nicer food on a family ski trip so are going with Esprit again next year.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
Does anyone have a resort / chalet that they'd recommend.
Not looking for cheap and cheerful or super expensive.
Any recommendations out there?
TIA

We went as a family with Ski Espirit to Selva in the Italian Dolomites. Reasonable transfer time, excellent child care with ski school. Good skiing for all standards. Excellent value on mountain restaurants. I'd recommend that for starters.

Hi Cosmo99. I've been skiing with Meriski every year with my 2 kids who are now 6 and 4. They are fabulous - they cater brilliantly for the kids food-wise, their nannies are all excellent and bring lots of toys for the kids to play with during the week, and take them out on the ski lifts for hot chocolate etc. Plus they have drivers to take you round the resort all day. In their chalets you would eat after the kids had gone to bed upstairs so it works well for grown up evenings too. I've stayed in many of their chalets and all are kid friendly - just ask for stair gates.
We do have space for 2 families in our chalet (kalliste if you are looking on meriski website) for Feb half term if that is when you are looking to go? Leaving 14th Feb and I'd describe it in the same way as how you described your budget!
PM me if interested?
Good luck! X

Transfer time was always key when travelling with little people. My advice would be to make the transfer time as short as possible especially as every time we did all inclusive there seemed to be endless delays, found it easier in the end to get a rental car but depending where you go traffic back to the airport on a change over day can be horrendous!

Hi there

Apologies, this is not directly related to your question, but after you have booked your ski holiday, you will need to think about skiwear!

We are a Clapham based family business selling new and second-hand skiwear for adults, children and babies at bargain prices. We operate on an appointment basis in which you can bring the whole family and kit them out in one visit. We have a huge selection of stock ranging from jackets, salopettes and snowsuits to thermals, mid-layers, gloves, socks, helmets, goggles and more.

Please take a look at our website - http://www.skiderouge.com.

We hope to see you soon.

Many thanks.
