Fitbit v Apple watch

Postby Cinderalla » Fri Oct 28, 2022 3:34 pm

My faithful Fitbit has died and before i replace I am pondering whether I should get an apple watch. Mostly biased by the look and brand v anything to do with the practicality. Wondering if anyone has had both and could tell me if the apple watch (together with the additional expense) is worth the hype. Any insight very welcome.

Have you considered a garmin instead?

it depends what you need it for - for me it was important not to charge the battery every day as sometimes I am not able to do it when I am at birth and apple watch has a notoriously bad battery life. Otherwise it is all about branding and the look.  Apple is more integrated with pay emails social media etc so essentially you carry everything on the watch and hence it eats into battery life but if you need something for exercise the garmin as suggested above is far more superior version.

Long battery life on Fitbit and it's pretty good at the fitness stuff.

The Apple Watch does so so much more - but it chews power and I didn't want all the extra features.

Am looking at my Fitbit now and think I need to do some more steps!

I love my Apple Watch, but it's true the battery life isn't great. I charge every day overnight, which works for me, but wasn't so handy when we were camping!

It depends what you want it for. If just fitness, a Fitbit or Garmin are fine (I used to have a Garmin and loved that too). But I love the pay feature on the watch and getting all texts and alerts from my iphone appearing on it too is really useful. (Though I think some of the more pricey Garmins do that too.)
