Recommendations for Orthodontist / any feedback on Battersea Rise Orthodontist Practice

Postby sallyhamonesock » Wed Sep 05, 2018 11:21 am

Hello,

My 12 yr old son needs an orthodontist and the one his dentist employs has just left. We don't really want to wait for him to re-employ so I'm looking for recommendations, ideally SW London rather than Harley Street etc. The Orthodontist Practice on Battersea Rise has been suggested so I'd love any feedback (positive or negative) on that option as well as any other orthodontist that any one would strongly recommend.

Do hope you can help.

Many thanks,

Sally

I would highly recommend Emmett Hegarty who works at The Dental Spa in Putney. Done an excellent job on my two kids. Works there on a Friday and Saturday.

Sam at Battersea Rise Orthodontist is just amazing. My older boy now has the most perfect smile with no extractions (both me and my husband had to have 4 teeth out as kids). My younger one had 'double decker' teeth, one twisted 45 degrees and again is halfway through now to lovely straight teeth, no extractions. Sam is really nice with the kids as well as great at his job; can't recommend him highly enough. I know lots of other satisfied parents too - but there can be a waiting list, so enquire.

Bear in mind when you choose your orthodontist, that you're going to be going there a lot, at least every 6 weeks for a year or two. Sometimes emergency appointments to repair the brace where you whisk them out of school and back. So choose one close to you/your child's school - Harley St would, as you thought, be a complete pain. Good luck

We have been very pleased with Wimbledon Orthodontists, helpful, flexible and have done a great job with our eldest’s teeth. As the previous poster identified, you end up having to go very regularly, so somewhere easy to get to is a must (we live in Streatham so Wimbledon is relatively easy for us).

I totally agree with the regular visits and being nearby. Someone who will be able to see your child out of school hours also important, both to avoid missing lessons and if you work, hence the Saturday option also v helpful.

Hi sallyhamonesock

Both of my two saw Amina at Glow Dental on Northcote Rd and I could not have been more pleased with the process/ appointments/ outcome.

As someone mentioned earlier being able to get to your ortho easily is a huge advantage as you do find that you need to pop in to e.g. fix a bracket when they've eaten the toffee apples they were told not too  😉

Hope that helps. Happy to have a chat if you would like to.

I would second the recommendation of Battersea Rise and Dr Sam. He’s a bit full-on but so encouraging and supportive to the kids. Also, he has fit us in in emergencies (like when my son broke his bracket for the 4th time in a month).

We came from 1a Orthodontics where Dr Borhan did a decent job with my daughter, but it was never a great experience. We were charged extra for every little thing (even for the one and only bracket that she ever broke) and she kept blaming my son for the lack of progress (after 4 years of wearing a brace), while continuing to charge me £75 for 4 minute checkups. We went to Dr Sam and within a year his teeth and jaw are transformed, and without any extractions. Prices were the same, but way more care and value for money.
