Nitrous Oxide abuse and petty crime at Clapham Common

Postby juliantenniscoach » Tue Feb 05, 2019 11:52 am

Recently there has been a lot of petty crime at the tennis courts, pavilion and cafe.  Mainly broken windows and graffiti but also attempted break in's to the pavilion and cafe.  Whenever the damage occurs there is always the remnants of N2O abuse.  The pavilion and cafe have become an evening meeting point for teenagers of late and it is after the courts are closed at 10pm is when the damage and abuse occurs.

The N20 takes the form of small metal cartridges which used in conjunction with balloons, allows inhalation and an oxygen loaded high.  This is also known as 'hippy crack'.  The brand of cartridges discarded at the courts are Kayser, and they are used for industrial catering.  There is supposed to be a control of sale on N2O products but they are easy enough to get and currently legal to possess.

The cafe could install a wireless, motion triggered, wi-fi and night vision enabled CCTV camera.
They can be setup to message someone when triggered and take real-time film or images, uploaded to a mobile phone.
They're about £50, you can buy multiple camera units and some of them also have a speaker so that you can have a little chat with whomever is ransacking your valuables.

The risks of inhaling it are colossal, you can tell that only the 'special' ones choose to do this!
