Recommendation for Builder / Damp Specialist urgently needed! Post Reply

Can anyone help me with a recommendation for a builder / damp specialist ?  We have a side return and there is evidence of damp all the way along the outside wall.  We have already paid quite a bit of money having the pointing raked out, all brickwork re-pointed and then painted with Weathershield paint but it hasn't resolved it.  Getting a bit desperate as it is near electrical sockets etc and there is underfloor heating in the kitchen too!

You may want to start with a surveyor specialists in damp.

Have you got a leaking pipe ? Is your underfloor heating leaking, or do you have a leak from a bathroom upstairs?

When it rains, check the guttering. It is possible the guttering leaks and dumps water on the wall.

Is there a proper damp course or engineering block at low levels?

We have not had amazing amounts of rain this winter or in the past few weeks. It should not be getting damp unless something is wrong.

May be that the brick (Victorian Suffolk) is just too soft and too old.
