Laser hair removal

Postby kidzibuzi » Wed May 08, 2019 7:51 pm

Hi,
My daughter is 13 and would like to remove her leg hair. As she has a lot, I would consider laser hair removal for her. Would anyone have some recommendation in South West London? I have never done it myself, so I need advise, especially as she has brown skin and I used to hear that it could burn dark skins or that it wouldn't work...

Many thanks

Ive used Premier Laser Clinic in London in and off for years and have been really happy with the results. I’ve had legs, bikini, under arms and chin done over the years.

I've had facial hair removed very effectively with no nasty side effects by Skin, which is a chain of clinics - my lovely niece who has very dark hair recommended it to me and I think we went to different branches but both came away very happy with the results.  I'm neither very fair-skinned nor brown-skinned - somewhere in the middle! - and I don't know what difference natural skin tone makes to laser treatment's effectiveness, but I do know that Skin will not do a treatment on recently tanned skin (I think the risk of skin damage is increased with tanning) and one thing for sure is that it does not work on blonde hairs - only darker shades of brown to black.  The staff at Skin are meticulously careful about going through all this and doing appropriate skin tests and I felt very confident in their expertise.  Warning - it ain't cheap! Especially for a larger area like legs....

I had laser treatment on my legs (with Harley Medical) and it was very effective. I remember they did say something about hormones - sorry I cannot remember exactly their advice but i think hair can regrow as hormones change. Maybe newer treatments are different but I wonder if you might want to do this when your daughter is a bit older and her hormones have settled, in case doing it now is too soon and she has to do it again?

I’ve used Sheer Laser Clinic (Church St, Twickenham) and 100% recommend. Marilyn will not do it if she doesnt think it will work well (I think in general it is harder to do on fair hair) and I’ve had a number of friends go to her who are also v pleased (and like I said another who went but was told she wouldn’t get good enough results for it to be worth it). Honestly can’t recommend her enough - she’s really passionate about what she does and not heard anyone who has had a bad experience there (def no burnt bits!)
