2 year old activities advice - she's happy, bubbly and loves running around.. Post Reply

Hi all,

I am currently taking care of a 2 year old.. She lives in Oval, but there is a bus that takes us to Battersea/Clapham/Balham in no time..

The parents have a big budget for fun, but I like to balance activities to ensure the child is exposed to lots of different environments..  She loves Bertie and Boo in Balham, and the London Aquarium, and I love reading to her - she has mountains of books which is great.

She needs a nap at 12.00, so many of the activities need to be early morning, or after 1/1.30pm... Or perhaps a place where we could also incorporate a nap.

Any ideas would be most welcome.. We have recently travelled to the South Bank, Clapham, Battersea and Balham, so we're happy to travel... (I live in Battersea myself, but I don't have young children myself, so I am not au fait with the local attractions for children). 

Paid and free / cheaper activities / ideas would be great.

Vauxhall city farm, battersea park zoo, playbase at the army museum, bees knees at battersea arts centre....all local and great fun for 2 year olds! Also worth checking out the latest timetable at clapham manor children's centre for stay and play and mud club etc. St barnabas church on battersea rise has a lovely playgroup on mondays and wednesdays 10-11.30.

St Barnabas is for parents only - they do not accept nannies.

Highly recommend Music and Movement at Latchmere Leisure Centre. Perfect for toddlers. It runs every morning from 10-11am and 11-12noon. Play area in their huge hall which includes a bouncy castle and face painting - it’s absolutely brilliant. You get a wristband for free entry in the softplay upstairs after should you wish to stay longer.

Fresh and Ground ok - expensive though I find.

The playgrounds at Chivalry road or the one behind St Marks Church are great. Both have been newly renovated. Wish Lambeth council would take note and do the same to their dire playgrounds...

Bertie and Boo on Northcote road have a lovely playroom especially perfect for wet weather days.
