Commuting from Tooting Bec and Balham

Postby LilianaM » Fri Apr 03, 2020 7:15 pm

Hi there,

I'm considering moving to Tooting Bec/Balham area and was wondering what the morning commute (8.30-9am) is like from both Tooting Bec and Balham? I used to live near Clapham North and know how much of a nightmare it can be!

Is it correct that these days you have to wait for several tubes before getting on at Balham? Is it easier getting on at Tooting Bec compared to Balham or just the same? I don't mind not getting a seat, just in terms of actually getting on the first tube that arrives.

Thank you for your advice! x

Sort of!

I commute on northern line into Hoxton.

Balham I get a seat 30% of the time but if you stand in the aisle then you almost always get a seat at Stockwell when everyone gets off to change to Victoria line.

For Tooting Bec if I stand at the end of the platform I tend to get a seat all the way.

Thank you for your reply! So you always get on the first tube at Balham in the morning, even if you don't get a seat?
