Share of freehold but respective Leasehold years are low? Any advice? Post Reply

Hi legal beagles 

I own a ground floor flat, and the chap upstairs owns the top flat. We share the freehold.. For some reason we both have less than 60 years on our respective leases.. 

Can someone tell me how easy it would be to rectify this?  Is it a simple paperwork task for both freeholders, or can we expect a lot of expense?

I am looking to sell the property soon, so I don't want this to be an issue.

My wife was in a similar situation and Simon Crozier of Hanne & Co. sorted out a 999 lease term!!!  Call him on 020 7228 0017 and mention the name of Linda Marshall.

This is a pretty easy one to resolve using a good property lawyer as Glynn says above.  We have used Hanne & Co for a number of transactions and they should be more than capable of sorting it out.  Cost will probably be around £500 each flat.
