Ravenstone vs Henry Cavendish (Balham)

Postby MikeB79 » Fri Nov 06, 2020 10:09 am

Hi all

Hoping for a little advice.  We are close to HC primary and are likely to get in if its our first choice.  We are also in the catchment area for Ravenstone.  Any feed back/advice from parents with kids in each school would be greatly received.  We have a good feeling about both and are finding it difficult to decide on a first choice.

Our daughter will be starting reception in September next year.

Many thanks for any advice in advance.

Our eldest has now left Ravenstone and I can say that the experience we had on our year there was excellent.

We had to go through a similar decision process a few years ago and we were really impressed with the Head at Ravenstone who is exceptional. Truly one of the best heads we have ever come across. Empathetic, engaged, full of energy and plans for the school. We also loved the playground which had lots of different areas to engage the children. The teachers & parents we met were also lovely. The PTA is full on engaged and does lots of events every year (and even during COVID).

You will probably get great feedback for both schools to be honest so it might be a question of going with your gut instinct.

Hello
we have only heard wonderful things about Ravenstone and are now looking at it to transfer our DC out of Belleville.
Ravenstone have been magnificent during lockdown, with a structured timetable, interactive system and moving online straight after Easter. Feedback and communication to Parents is excellent. It's on a par with the good private schools.
I don't know HC at all, so can't comment.

Our son is in Year 1 at Henry Cavendish Balham. We have been thrilled with the school and all they do both in terms of reading, writing, maths etc. and ‘having fun’. He’s made some lovely friends, as have we as parents!

The communication is very good - as a minimum we receive a newsletter every Friday from the headmaster to update us on what’s been happening the last wk and what’s to come the following week.

Should a bubble/the school have to close, online classrooms have been set up for all.

I think whichever school you choose, you’ll get positive feedback on both - good luck!
