Not sure about this facebook news. Very possibly fake news I should think.

I have neighbours and friends who are medics of one sort or another and they all tell me the same thing, that the system is straining to breaking point. Staff are also extremely tired.

I know a number of people who've caught it now in London in the past few days. I had caught the virus very probably in February because I had shortness of breath following a high temp and aches and have never experienced shortness of breath and possibly again in the autumn with no obvious symptoms but terrible fatigue. Coronavirus antibody taken recently confirmed antibodies. I'm still behaving as someone who can catch and transmit. I realize other people have doubts but our family lost a close loved one to it in the summer after 3 weeks on oxygen. Please take it seriously everyone and try and help those shielding. Yes the vast majority of us do recover but too many won't.

The additional morgue space they built up near Putney Cemetery got dismantled back in November completely unused I believe.

The ‘new’ mutant strain that cancelled Christmas turned out to have been in circulation for months prior.

They even had plans to give out only one dose of the two dose required vaccine but had to backtrack when they got caught out not following the science.

If you didn’t laugh you would cry.

Yes the government are a shambles. If only we had locked down a few weeks earlier before we did in March. By that point myself and so many had caught it and unwittingly passed it on.
My dad received the vaccine 5 days ago and all is well and as far as we know no changes to the second dose in 3 weeks. The only hope is getting the vaccines out.

it was shutdown after the initial crisis had passed, but has now been re-opened.  I believe it will mostly be used for step down beds and as a vaccine centre.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-55503536

Worrying posts here. Hospitals in London are in crisis mode due to COVID. It’s becoming increasingly grim and we are not even at height of cases yet. My son has gone in to work today, being the only person in his department as everyone else has either left or is ill/in isolation. There are normally four of them. He isn’t even clinic facing.
Be thankful for the people willing to work in COVID wards, it’s not a nice environment being head to toe in PPE all day without a break to drink or go to the loo as they are so stretched.
The Excel Nightingale is reopen and staff and being redeployed all across the NHS again - most of them don’t want to be anywhere near COVID wards, most of them haven’t had a vaccination and the lucky ones have now been told they will have to wait for their booster dose.
Just because some staff are having a ‘good war’ it doesn’t mean the majority are. I try not to be judgemental but am shocked at the amount of unhelpful postings that have appeared on here recently.
I have reported a few. Nothing seems to be done. It’s made me consider my membership as lack of effective moderation is reducing the appeal of this site after 11 years as a member.

Hi
Thank you for the note - I'll look into this now - we've had a few emails issues which means I'm aware we have missed some notifications but we certainly shouldn't have missed many.

Thanks again and really happy to speak if that is easier (annabel@nappyvalleynet.com)

Thank you.
I’ve literally only reported a couple. Plus, where do you draw the line between dangerous misinformation and necessary freedom on speech?
I was just reading and sighing but have decided to reply when I see this kind of thing as it’s probably better than doing nothing.

Unfortunately misinformation is very prevalent on many platforms and a huge slap in the face for those working on Covid wards and people who've lost loved ones.

ally30_1998 - completely support you.  In a national health emergency we simply have to accept some restrictions on eg free speech that in other circumstances we wouldn't.  And if we really want to do more for NHS staff than clap on our doorsteps, then this is our chance.  Personally (and I'm in the over 70s group) I think all NHS clinical staff of any age should be first in line for vaccination.  After that vaccinate others.  They have been under the cosh now for nearly a year.

Annabel (admin) - I'm not sure how you would do it, but how about putting together some sort of small moderation panel of informed, qualified people to review and if necessary take down comments on a few specific subjects?

Thanks Chorister. I will have a look at how that might work best.

I find it quite sinister the attempts to moderate free discussion on a topic that is having such a huge impact on all our lives.

I have seen this twice now on here and another national forum I browse in the last week.

To request that only ‘qualified’ people can now post on the internet. George Orwell would be proud of you.
