Psychotherapy help for 16 year old boy? Post Reply

Hello,

I'm after recommendations please (ideally personal) for psychotherapy help for a 16 year old boy. He's at a very competitive boarding school and takes his studying very seriously; he's given up his team sports, he's become withdrawn, quiet and underweight as he has issues with his eating and obsessive exercising. He now has help from his school in terms of nutritional and sports advice, but I feel it would be beneficial for him to talk to someone externally about his feelings, and the underlying reasons for his need for control. Unfortunately his parents do not have a great relationship, and I'm worried this may have influenced him over the years. Thanks in advance for any leads.

I recommend Anna Jezuita, Therapy For Change who is an excellent and very experienced psychotherapist and mindfulness coach. I’ve used her services myself and I think this type of help would really help this poor lad get back on track. She practices in London but can do Zoom sessions.

I can highly recommend Dr. Elizabeth Kilbey who helped our son with behaviour issues at school following a diagnosis of ADHD. She specialises in children and young people who are non-neurotypical, but it might be worth talking to her even if this young man doesn't have any kind of formal diagnosis. She is in West Wickham, so out of the Nappy Valley area, but if he's at boarding school, perhaps that doesn't matter. She is really fantastic, so much kindness and professionalism, and helped to put our family back together after a very difficult time.
