Borrow my doggy

Postby Sharemydoggy » Mon Mar 29, 2021 2:40 pm

This is a bit of a random one, and I haven’t thought it through properly, but, is there somebody out there who in an ideal world would want a dog but for some reason - work, travelling, costs, just can’t commit full time and permanently to having a dog?

We have two small dogs, two years old, and thought it might be nice to share them sometimes. Kind of like the website borrow my doggy but instead of different people looking after them, just one person/family who would build a bond with them and love them like we do? For a few days here and there, if we were to holiday, summer park days etc.

We would cover all costs - insurance, vet fees, immunisations, food, grooming etc. It just means they have double the fun?

It may be a terrible idea, but just wondering if it would allow someone who would love to have a dog but not own one? At the same time giving a break to us occasionally and the dogs get double the love, attention and cuddles but from the same people, not a stream of different people like borrow my doggy?

Could this work?

We have been lucky with Borrow My Doggy where we have found 2 local doggy friends who have our dog on a fairly regular basis including covering holidays. Worth giving it a go and stating your intention in your BMD profile.

We did a successful dog share with neighbours - would love to find out more.

This is a great idea!! - borrowing or even a dog share too?

I had a similar thought. We have a miniature long haired dachshund pup, and although I’ve set up a basic profile for BMD there’s something putting me off. Having a regular family take little Stanley and bonding with him would set my mind at ease so much more.

I’ve added a picture of Stanley in case anyone thinks he looks too menacing 😊 xx
