HERMES I am fed up!!!

Postby nehajubin » Sat Apr 03, 2021 2:16 pm

Has anyone else had numerous issues with hermes? They keep leaving my parcels on the front porch and my front door faces onto a busy road and all of my parcels keep getting stolen as a result!

They have made no attempts to hide the parcel and have ignored all of the requests to deliver it to my neighbour (I work within a hospital and due to COVID it’s been crazy hours).

Has anyone else got any advice on how best to create a change/any watchdog groups out there that might be useful for this around earlsfield area?

Many thanks!

For some reason we don't get many parcels delivered by Hermes.

I would take a screenshot of the requests to deliver to neighbours or hide things. That way if they go missing you might be able to claim for them. A ring door bell might help too? To prove where they were left in the first place.

DO you have a neighbourhood watch group? That might be of some help?

In their defence these delivery drivers only have a minute or two to deliver each parcel.

Yes! To the extent that I do my absolute best to not buy now from retailers where I know they use Hermes. Mine would lob boxes over the back gate even though we’re home. Or when we were away boxes containing clothes were left in the rain for days. This was after me politely asking him not to leave on my doorstep! I filed a complaint with Hermes who were really helpful and said they’d raise it with his manager which has he now reverted to him knocking and leaving on the doorstep. 🙄

Hi

Ex courier driver for Hermes (and others)

I am not trying to defend the indefensible but just adding a couple of points

1) The drivers often do not know of an alternative address. You tell company A "Please deliver to #47". If that is not printed on the label neither Hermes nor the driver will know.

2) You do not know the driver's route. You may think 47 Northcote Rd is "just round the corner."
It might be but it may also not be on that driver's route. I am not allowed to go off my route.

3) Equally, l have been asked to deliver to an address over one mile away! At the wrong time of the day and even if it is on my route l may already have passed it and (b) it could add 15/20 minutes. No way!

4) l have read notes that asked to deliver to the back door. Not going to happen if l am on double yellows at the front door. The chances of me getting a box van down a back alleyway in greater London are remote. If l do, 90% have no numbers on them and l am left to guess if the IKEA gate is 43,45,47,47A or "The Old Forge."

I could go on but you get the drift.

If you know that you are likely to be out, use a Hermes/Amazon etc locker or collect from one of the many shops etc that receive. There are many all across the Valley.

I sympathise with what @stevehall said. Also, drivers are at the bottom of the corporate food chain - some even use their own cars. I remember storied in the press about one of these companies (not Hermes) not giving time off to a driver to attend critical medical treatment. So direct your anger at the companies more than at the drivers.

Can you use a Hermes locker? https://www.myhermes.co.uk/find-a-parce ... 0.18587637 There is one by the roofing supplies shop on Cargill rd

Can you leave a note on your door to leave with your neighbours? As long as they are no more tan 1-2 doors away

Can you install a parcel box in your front yard? https://www.smartparcelbox.co.uk/buy-on ... uOEALw_wcB
