IVF With ICSI, which hospital is best ?

Postby jisha » Mon Apr 26, 2021 4:10 pm

Hello All,

Hope you doing fine !!

I'm 36 now. My partner and I are trying for a baby for the last 2 years, but no luck. Recently, I've been diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis. I've undergone one endosurgery last November. But looks like the same endo issue is reoccurring.  Recently, we did a semen analysis for my partner, and looks like he has got sperm count issue.

After seeing our results, my gynecologist suggested IVF with the ICSI option, because she thinks natural conception is impossible in our case. But due to this covid crisis, I believe NHS funding won't be easy. So we are planning to go in private.

I'm already going through severe pain every month due to my endo issues. So she suggested getting this treatment at the earliest. I called Lister and Chlease/Westminister, they are taking new patients. Can anyone suggest good options? or a specialist? That would be a great help!!

Thank You.
Jisha

I had IVF at both clinics and found them comparable. The first time at Chelsea Westminster and the second time at Lister due to Covid. I found my experience at the Lister much quicker as it is all private vs Chelsea Westminster which is NHS and private. My doctor at the Lister was Dr. Wren and I would highly recommend her. I hope this helps.

Sorry I meant to say we were also successful at both clinics and found the Lister in particular a seamless process.

Don’t go to Chelwest , as they have a mountain of a backlog list to clear . We just ditched them having waited 6 months as all the ivf staff were allocated to other parts of the NHS hospital . We jumped ship to lister and has been very quick , just started the protocol there . Chelwest did call us recently but the 1st appointment was like a month+ wait just to get started , whereas Lister was 1-2 weeks to get initial appointment . There is minimal difference in cost ( if you are paying for it). Lister have been ok so far , although I guess because we’re paying a lot of £ I expected more 1-1 treatment but I would saying that’s not been the case . We rang the nurse hotline several times for advice on something and nobody answered although a nurse did call back when we left a message. Lister also seems very busy at the moment but generally so far it’s been quick and reliable .

Avoid Chelsea and Westminster like the plague

It’s a sausage factory with no individual treatment - one size fits all only.

Lister is good but ARGC is better

Good luck

Someone recently asked this on a Facebook group I’m on and the lister got some pretty bad feedback for being like a conveyor belt and disorganised.
We have done three rounds of ivf at guys which was our allocated nhs clinic- they were awful and we did not have a good experience there.
I am currently 31 weeks pregnant from our first cycle at ARGC. If you can afford it I would never go anywhere else. ARGC are absolutely incredible. Their statistics speak for themselves, they are the most successful clinic in the uk. Our fresh cycle cost us 25k but I am also pregnant with triplets so I guess we got our money’s worth! Good luck with whatever you decide.

100 per cent go to see Colin Davis at Evewell. He specialises in lining issues so will know the best approach for you. He's also so kind and thorough- I've seen him for years pre him setting up Evewell and had our two children with him. His clinic really is state of the art and success rates similar to ARGC but he doesn't shout about it as knows its all down to the individual

My two wonderful children were born in 2013 and 2014 thanks to ARGC. We had 4 cycles in total, of which #2 and #4 were successful. We only used ARGC but of course know lots of people who did use other clinics. The big difference (back then, and possibly still now) was ARGC requires intense patient time commitment... while cycling you go to the clinic every morning at 7am for bloods/scans, and possibly again in the afternoon, and you get a call every afternoon with that day’s meds dosages based on your bloods and scans. You then stay under their care until you are 12 weeks pregnant. You would see different doctors each day but the head Mr Taranissi made all the clinical decisions for each patient. My friends who went elsewhere were given a prepared meds plan to follow with only a few checkup visits, so a very different experience. ARGC is hard work (and expensive) BUT it’s a very short time period in the grand scheme of things. Their job is to get you and keep you pregnant and they are very, very, very good at it.

I can’t recommend the ARGC highly enough. It is intense but you get a tailored approach for you. Their success rates are fantastic. We were successful first time at the ARGC. The level of care is wonderful and for as long as you need it. Wishing you the very best of luck.
