Home alarm installers - recommendations?

Postby rpppp » Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:24 am

Hi, can anyone recommend any home installers - our alarm has a slight fault and these are the companies already tried, don't need the system taken over but guess that's what they do nowadays before they touch a home alarm. Unfortunately a minor error means a whole system take over and spending a few hundred pounds.

1. Banham - used them previously when I bought our house and it was pre-installed, more expensive than other companies and quote was silly.

2. Henson - currently with them but think they're now out of business as not had any calls/mails returned in 6 weeks.

3. SDS - trying to figure out if they can fix or replace the alarm, been waiting over a week to get meaningful response from them

4. Barkingdog - emailed, got a missed call from Andrew, called him back and he said he'd return my call in a few mins when he was in the office (Monday), no call so chased again yesterday and still waiting.

Would be nice to get a recommendation for a company that actually wants to help or is a bit more timely in their responses, none of the above seem like they want the work based on responses or lack of responses to date.

Thanks

Surely you need the company that installed the alarm to service it? I doubt a company would ever take on another company’s alarm. Andrew at Barking Dog is excellent so please don’t rubbish him on here. He installed our alarm and if I have any problems he often comes round the same day.

Perhaps read the post a second time and it might make sense: 2. Henson - currently with them but think they're now out of business as not had any calls/mails returned in 6 weeks.

As for Andrew I followed one of your earlier recommendations here and my experience is that he said he was going to call back and hasn't but I'm glad you have a positive experience with him as I haven't which is why I'm looking for alternatives so not entirely sure how that is rubbishing him. Should he call back and everything is as positive as you say I'd be happy to recommend him.

And yes alarm companies do take on other alarms and convert them to their own.

Ok sorry - I’ve now re-read your post as instructed and I now understand your problem! I hope Andrew responds - he may be busy so do try him again. Of all the companies I’ve ever used for anything to do with the house I’d say his is one of the very best so don’t dismiss him just because he may have forgotten to return your call. His alarm system is really good too. We used to have a cat and he has cat-sensitive sensors so the cat could wander around the house without the alarm thinking he was a burglar.
