Royal Russell commute from Clapham Junction Post Reply

We are looking at Royal Russell for our daughter to apply to join the senior school and live close to Clapham Junction.  The trip is train to East Croydon then tram to the school entrance and I’m just worried about how practical that is, especially during winter months.  I did read on the school website that there may be a minibus from Clapham to the school (not sure how long that would take with the traffic congestion) but couldn’t see any more details.

Does any one have any experiences on how their child gets on with broadly the similar journey to RR?

I was also concerned about the commute, but it’s actually very quick on the train/tram, and there is a growing number of children doing it. My son quite enjoys his time on the train with his friends. He’s Year 7. The school is excellent with an inspirational headmaster, Chris Hutchinson. It has fabulous facilities, new state of the art science block, swimming pool and superb grounds. They only have about 120 children per year, and the teachers seem to know them all. I can’t recommend Royal Russell enough, go and have a look and you will be sold on it. I feel very lucky that we stumbled across it.
There is a school bus from Clapham, but I think most children travel from CJ, Wandsworth Common and Balham stations. Please feel free to pm me if you want to have a chat.

Great to hear such wonderful reviews of the school - looking at it also for our daughter.

Do any children commute from Oprington / Hayes areas? Does anyone know how long the commute takes?

Sorry a bit late on responding but I can assure that commuting works really well. My son joined RR for Y9 and after a few months he had already made lots of friends to travel with, not only from RR but also from Whitgift and Trinity. He texts friends in the morning to catch the same train. School bus was a bit too expensive for us.
