Nursery recommendations please. Lavender Hill to Northcote Road areas

Postby loobsno1 » Wed Jul 28, 2021 10:10 pm

Hi all.
We’re having our first baby in November and looking to send baby to nursery full time when they’re 11/12 months.
We would love to hear nursery recommendations as it’s so difficult to get a feel from a quick visit. We are looking around Lavender Hill to Northcote Road.
Does anyone have experience of Northcote House Nursery or Bright Horizons Northcote Road?
Thank you

Have you tried Linden Tree on Webb’s Road?My son went there from 0-3 before it changed name (he’s 8 now) and it was the best start to his education and socialisation. Despite the name change, the owner is the same and there are still some staff there who looked after my son when he was teeny, which I think is a good sign.
Good luck!

A second vote for linden tree Webb’s rd! Our son has a brilliant time there, and has been there from babies room through to the toddlers room he’s now in. The staff are all lovely.

My daughter went to bright horizons Wandsworth common which was fine in terms of care but not particularly inspiring in terms of learning. She’s now been at Northcote/ bennerley house for just over two years and we absolutely love it. Great staff, very passionate and devoted and very well managed. It’s not heavy on education like you’d get at a nursery like mouse house but it’s a great environment for little ones to learn about life which I feel is more important at this age. Some Other local nurseries are more focused on pushing learning and it’s totally not necessary before school, but a bonus depending on what you’re after.

My wife and I are looking at nurseries for our 8 month old and have narrowed it down to either Northcote House or Bright Horizons (Wandsworth Common). Feedback on any recent experience with both or either nursery would be very much appreciated.
Thanks all!

Hi,

My son is now 4 but when he was 10 months I started him at nursery for a few hours. I checked out Bright Horizons initially and we did the settling in sessions. I was really shocked that in each of the two sessions there was only 1 member of staff for around 10/11 babies and children. I raised it with the manager and she said the other member of staff was probably on lunch, but I pointed out that they are meant to cover this to stick to the ratios. So I didn’t send him there as it was not good. I sent him to Northcote house and they were really good, lovely staff and I felt he was well looked after.
