Diet for insulin resistance

Postby Worcester » Tue Aug 31, 2021 7:17 am

Hi there!

My teenage daughter is suspected to have insulin resistance. We are waiting for the rest of the tests to come through but it is highly likely that this will be the outcome. I have read a little bit about and depending on the severity of her condition we will either go the medicine route or try to fight it off with a diet. I am aware of the products that she can or can't be eating but I would like to do more. Do you have any ideas or recipes for healthy yet tasty dinners, or lunches so I could make sure she eats properly? I am learning but still a newbie.

Hi
Focus on low GL recipes with lots of vegetables and a good source of protein.
BBC good food has some good recipes for inspiration (https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbcg ... ecipes/amp
And https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbcg ... ecipes/amp)
or Clare Bailey / Michael Mosley “8 week blood sugar diet recipe book” is also popular.
If you would like any further help I am a local Nutritional therapist and would be happy to help guide you with the diet side of insulin resistance.
