Good place for ear piercing?

Postby cheesestraws » Fri Nov 12, 2021 1:02 pm

I would like to take my goddaughter to get her ears pieced as a Christmas present.
Could anyone recommend anywhere that feels a bit more special than Clare's on Northcote Road? Happy to travel for a good recommendation. Thanks

They were great and it’s Covent Garden so a bit of a day out! Such pretty earrings to pierce with also.

I got my ears pierced at Selfridges many years ago and recommend.  There's a couple of places to choose from there : )

I got my daughter’s done at Harrods as did most of her year group. It’s very swish and feels very special. They did a really good job. I had my ears done at a cheap place years ago and my ears took ages to heal so I would go somewhere good. I assume you’ve cleared it with her mum?!

Odd as it sounds, a tattoo parlour is best. Gun piercings are poor quality; it's optimal to be done by someone with expertise, using a needle. I wish I'd known that when I had my own done, as a teenager! An American friend told me the difference - it's apparently a big thing over there! Which this US Good Housekeeping article earnestly explains: https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/beauty ... d-dangers/

(I should add that I have no idea which Harrods and/or Selfridges use! My little girl is much too small for ear piercing, yet.)

Monica Vinader at Duke of York Sloane Square now have a piercing area.  Or Maria Tash at Liberty is very cool but also quite expensive.

Monica Vinader in Sloane Square is lovely. Plus Sloane Square is beautiful at this time of year.

It looks like you’ve made your decision but I wanted to add another place to the mix in case this thread is accessed by others in the future.

Last month, I took my daughter to Kinky Ink, the tattoo parlour on Battersea Rise. They were brilliant. The master piercer is local, she went to one of the local primary schools so it was an added bonus for me to support a local business.

I’ve just been looking into this too. A friend went to Kinky Ink and said they were great, but it doesn’t make for a day out if that’s a factor. Also, make sure to get gold and not titanium as more people can get a reaction to titanium. Maria Tash at Liberty is supposed to be good and she does have fab designs for adults, but they are so busy that it doesn’t feel so special. Not sure what Maria Tash at Harrods is like. But the cheapest option at Maria Tash is just shy of £300. Monica Vinader is much more reasonable and lovely - but you do have to be over 12. Astrid and Mayu in Covent Garden looked like a nice option, tiny shop in Neal’s Yard. Favourite so far though is Alkemistry - also Covent Garden. Beautiful shop and they do a kids package - ears pierced, earings, photo, certificate, treat in a nice bag for around £120. Plus they will pierce mum’s ( probably God Mother’s too) ear for just the price of the earring/s - if you fancy a cheeky extra earring - as I think I do. I’ve booked this option for my daughter. Good luck!
