Neighbours snoring SO SO loud, help! Post Reply

What can I do about my next door neighbour's unbelievably loud snoring. 

Their master bedroom, like ours, is at the front of the house and with the hot weather both bedrooms have windows open but it is now several weeks since I have an uninterrupted nights sleep. The last couple of nights I shave resorted to the sofa. It isn't just loud it is very very loud. It's like a version of anti social behaviour.

Can I go and speak to them? And what really can I say or suggest? Ive tried airplugs, background music etc. Any suggestions would be very very grateful. Thanks.

Poor you hopefully you can get a good night’s sleep soon! I wouldn’t personally say anything myself but you could maybe bring up in conversation if you see them?

Maybe you could Try white noise app?

To be honest we don’t have much noise disturbance at night but I’ve not had much sleep all week cos of the heat myself. Good luck!

As snoring is an involuntary thing, what kind of outcome would you possibly expect?
As this is a temporary issue due to windows being open, say nothing.

Perhaps if you say something they will also volunteer what they can hear you do and you will both end up feeling self-conscious in your own homes.

It’s not an ideal situation, but I really don’t understand what you expect them to do about it. As has been said above, raising it with them might lead you to discover that what goes on in your house can be heard next door. In the meantime, and for the sake of a short period of warm nights, I suggest sleeping in another room.

As someone who has to live with a very loud snorer in the same bed I recommend earplugs, but they have to be the silicone type (not foam, they’re useless). Boots not Superdrug. Good luck!

Whilst redecorating our bedroom we put a sheet of sound insulation on our connecting bedroom wall as all we could hear was our neighbours sneezing and … well… other ‘domestic’ noises. It’s done the trick! It seemed a bit overkill at the time but at least I can now look them straight in the eye when I meet them on the street! Good luck.

My husband’s snoring is so loud I’ve considered taking it up with the local council myself.

I promise you, your brain will adjust and drown out the snoring noise. It just needs time to understand that it’s not a threat.

Get a loop or digital sound recorder point microphone at source of sound.Set it to record the length of the snore automatically.
Put powerful amplifier on output of recorder with directional speaker pointed to where snore comes from alongside microphone used to record.
As soon as loud snore starts microphone will start to record when it stops exact snore will play back at high volume.
will automatically repeat for each snore but not record or playback when no snore!
The person will wake hear nothing and go back to sleep until snores again!
Will soon stop.
