Swimming teacher for ADHD kid

Postby gemima » Tue Feb 21, 2023 12:58 am

Hello,

My 9 yr old child has been to swimming classes (Chelsea Manor St) for 2-3 years and still has not learnt to swim.  I suspect we may need to find a private tutor.  Does anyone have any suggestions for an ADHD kid?

Might need some swimming lessons for myself and my husband too.  There used to be some great teachers at Emanuel School?

Any help / suggestions welcome.

Swimway is brilliant. Teachers in general are great, patient, kind, and give very personal lessons. I can't speak specifically to ADHD provisions, but I think if you called their office, they could advise if they have specific teachers they would recommend.

We use south west swimming school at Emanuel pool.  Have also been with them at Burntwood school pool.  My son has ADHD amongst other SEN.  He has a private class (they do a discount for SEN 1:1) and they've been super accommodating, moving us teachers, pools etc to fit with what he needs.  Its not cheap but he's got a great teacher and is now swimming laps.
Going to the pool at a quieter time (to avoid even more sensory overwhelm and disctractions) and ADHD meds also helped!
