Dove's Buthchers

Postby gemima » Sun Feb 26, 2023 3:09 pm

Hello,

Controversial I know, but does anyone know which farm Dove's used to get their meat from?  (I know there is Doves farm that sells flour etc but no meat!).

I buy the most expensive organic meat but it still does not taste like Doves!

Try Wimbledon Farmers' Market (in Earlsfield, Havana Road not Wimbledon) every Saturday - March House Farm sells wonderful meat and will more or less tell you the name of the cow!  And there is a wonderful game stall called Kieron's Game.

I’m pretty sure they just got their meat from Smithfield

I occasionally ordered specific cuts/items and they always said it would depend what was at the market

I’m very picky about the quality and taste of our meat, and find The Butchers Table on St John’s Hill (opposite the Plough) to be excellent, also Parsons Nose (who are further away but deliver). Chadwicks in Balham is pretty good also

The best meat comes from an online butcher called The Ethical Butcher which deals only with farms with top environmental practices and high animal welfare
You can read all about the farms and pick a specific farm for your meat. Obviously you have to factor delivery times in though

Locally - Butchers Table on St Johns Hill is knowledgeable, great service, fab quality.

We also buy from Turner & George out of Islington. Hands down, one of the UKs best.
