Child tooth extraction for orthondontics

Postby seabel » Thu Mar 16, 2023 5:00 pm

Hello, my daughter is currently having private orthondontic treatment and she needs to have two bottom teeth removed. Can anyone recommend somewhere that removes teeth? They do it at the place we go but don't offer gas and air or sedation, is local anaesthetic enough or should gas and air be considered? She is 13 years old. Thanks!

Crescent Lodge do sedation, not sure about gas and air and are great with nervous patients so I think would be with children.

My daughter had her braces at Glow and they do sedation too and have a great children's dentist so they might be worth a call.

I had this done at 11 yrs old only with anaesthetic.
Thinking back I can’t believe I was so relaxed about it, but I remember thinking it was a cool sound!
So as long as your child is not scared, it might not be as bad as it seems for a parent.

The beauty of the innocence of children.

my daughter had 6 out in one go with
injections at a nhs dentist. that was not the best experience but more the fact they did so many than needing gas. there just wasn’t much tlc in the process. I felt awful in hindsight.

she then had 2 out at glow, again with just anesthetic but it was a much nicer experience, they did a great job of putting her at ease. i don’t think gas and air is essential if you have a good children’s dentist. i know we discussed all the options at glow and were happy with how they handled it.

My children have had many teeth removed ahead of orthodontic treatment and never had more than a local anaesthetic. If they are ‘baby’ teeth they don’t have deep roots like adult teeth and so come out pretty easily.

Toothbeary is excellent. My daughter had 3 teeth taken out when she was 4 years old by Toothbeary, we had a fantastic experience, highly recommend.

We’ve also had a good experience at Toothberry in Twickenham. My daughter was 12.
