Local Gym Recommendations

Postby toast-rack-1 » Tue May 02, 2023 2:22 pm

Can anyone recommend good gyms in the wandsworth/clapham/fulham/putney areas? I'm currently a member at Third Space but it's a long way to travel and I'm looking for something a little more local (apart from the puregym/virgin/leisure centre types of places). Functional fitness would be ideal!

There is a new Third Space opening soon in Battersea power station later this year and another due to open up in the redeveloped Arding and Hobbs at Clapham junction. That said, in the meantime, you could check out Milo and the Bull or F45 for good functional fitness classes in the area. Or one of the CrossFit boxes (Shapesmiths under the arches at CJX and District further west in Wandsworth)?

Another thumbs up for the Train Station on Jaggard Way and if you are ever interested in reformer pilates I have recently taken some classes at The loft Pilates Studio just opposite. Very good too.

Does the female only gym in Earslfield work for you? I would've liked it but not convenient for me. ( I'm sorry I've forgotten its name)
I'm a member of the leisure centre which covers Balham, Tooting, Latchmere and Puntey and it suits me as I swim.

The gym in Earlsfield is Beattitude. I moved out of London and miss it a lot!! Great classes, great community and great value.

I'd recommend looking into Fitness First. They tend to have branches in the areas you mentioned, like Wandsworth, Clapham, Fulham, and Putney. What's great about them is their focus on functional fitness, which seems to align with your preferences.I've personally had a good experience with them in the past. The equipment is usually top-notch, and they offer various classes that cater to different fitness goals.Have you ever tried using lifting belts during your workouts? They can provide that extra support and stability, especially when you're into functional fitness. It's something to consider if you're looking to enhance your training routine.
