Female Hair Loss - Micropigmentation?

Postby marymarymary » Mon Aug 14, 2023 10:11 am

Hello Everybody,
I've always had thin hair, I have been wearing it up now for around 15 years to cover visible scalp areas on the crown and generally all over, but it is wearing even thinner.  I have tried Philip Kingsley potions, which kind of worked a bit for a bit, but the maintenance and ongoing cost made me give up, I looked into hair systems which wouldn't work for me as I have a low hairline, I don't have enough hair to make extensions work and don't want to stress my struggling remaining hairs, blood tests show I have no vitamin or mineral deficiency, and I'm scared of wig prison, and those fibre shakers turn me into a gremlin (fear of rain/sweat, etc).   I've recently seen articles about micro pigmentation and wondered if any fellow nappy valleyers had stories/recommendations about it for women?  I like the idea of a one off cost (at least for a few years).  It seems to work best for men with buzz cuts but there are a few images of women some look like the whole scalp has been coloured in so not subtle, any advice please?   I know its stupid but I do find it pretty devastating, so thank you for any feedback!

Hello Mary,
Sorry to hear you are struggling with your scalp and hair. I am currently working as a doctor at St George’s Hospital and have seen a lot of hair thinning during my time in adult and paediatric medicine training. I have a skin health clinic in Wandsworth Common if you’d like to pop in for a free consultation? There are some very effective hair follicle stimulating procedures, depending on hair growth patterns and scalp health.
My number is 07918021932 if you’d like to Whatsapp me for an appointment I’d be happy to advise.

Hi Mary,

I also have thinning hair particularly on my crown and took some hair drops and iron tablets from PK without much success too, I then trialled a hair topper but couldn't get on with this as felt it looked obvious I was wearing a wig and this affected my confidence, I have now cut my hair short to try and make it look thicker which has helped in short term but the thinness is getting worse so I am also researching long term options such as micropigmentation but worried about the pain 😞 and end result - I don't have any recommendations but just wanted to say you are not alone it really is awful as female hair loss is still so taboo and affects your self confidence every day, sending hugs x

Thank you very much people for your kind replies, suggestions, and hugs.  I think I am going to give micro pigmentation a try - scorpioqueen, I will let you know how I get on, I'm not worried about pain at all just the effect, its so hard to tell from those web images, eg., are you doomed to parting less hair styles, I will also talk to you Felicity, thank you for your number.
