Where to have an ebike serviced?

Postby SouthLondonDaddy » Thu Aug 31, 2023 5:12 pm

I am looking for recommendations on where to have an ebike serviced.

Authorised dealers like FullyCharged or the Electric Bike Shop are very expensive (£140 - 195 + parts, ie FullyCharged will charge you £195 just for looking at the bike, even if nothing needs changing).

I know of the Bellevue Bike Kiosk near Wandsworth Common and Fettle in Putney.
Does anyone know of, or have experience with, others?

I get it that these shops won't be able to update the software, fix things like charging problems, and maybe not even source original accessories. But, for all things mechanical, any decent bike mechanic should be able to work on a ebike - a chain is a chain and brake pads are brake pads, at the end of the day...

There used to be a bike shop in Southfields but it closed down (or moved, I don't know).

There is Trek near Wandsworth Bridge but I'm not sure they service non-Trek bikes.

Thanks!

Clapham Cycles are conventional bike shop - but (I think) they do also sell electric bikes, so should be able to help. I use them for my conventional bike repairs and they have been very good

Sort about that. I met someone today (Tremayne) used to work for VanMoof (electric bike company who went bankrupt). He travels around and they work on electric bikes trey@forbiddencycles.com

Thank you. In the meanwhile I went to the Bellevue Kiosk and am quite happy with them.

Some options for Cargo Bikes:
London Green Cycles - near Regents Park, but good reputation with electric and cargo bikes:
SW Cycles which was in Southfields has moved further out but they provide a great service, but not electrics
I have also had an OK experience with London Cycle Workshop in Battersea - they don't do electrics and you need to call head for a cargo bike booking, but they sorted out my breaks and gears fine
