Too small for Gap kid (fingers crossed!)

I bet on another ice cream parlour

No seriously, if it is not another estate agent or a high street shop, it will be a lifestyle/interiors decoratiOn shop. Like Graham Greene for ex.

I wish for an independant bookstore though

There already is an independent bookshop further up the road though. I would like a really nice deli!

it would be lovely to have an independent artisanal bakery as opposed to chain being everywhere. We would love to show our kids how bread is made and let them participate.

* Something like Kelly's Organic grocery store (RIP): had everything one could wish for including a deli with great food
* A bakery with a little more finesse (than Gails etc), like the ones you often see in Paris
* A post office or combination between this and a hardware store
* John Lewis in place of Debenhams would be great; parking around Sloane Square is ghastly
* A skilled tailor/seamstress who can alter clothes (i.e. more skilled than Bellevue Dry Cleaners, who are good at the basics)
* A no-fee cashpoint
* A children's craft shop or club like the one on Battersea Park Road

Moreover, has anyone noticed the dearth of decent public swimming pools in Wandsworth ? Clapham now has a good one, we are jealous. If only the Co-Op would go away, it's about the right size.....

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road?? - Chinese on Bellevue Rd

Postby Mum2two2012 » Tue Apr 17, 2012 6:11 pm

In response to having a good Chinese takeaway/restaurant - I have heard a whisper that one is to open in Bellevue Road where Pitcher and Piano used to be. Might even be a Royal China not sure...............

I would like to see good moroccan restaurant. There are very few places in London where they serve q real tagine/couscous.
A greengrocer would be nice as well.

There is a new Chinese reataurant being built on Bellevue Road - a Good Earth.

Sadly, Hamptons is about to open on Northcote Road....another estate agent ?!? Rumours have it that they have been overvaluing potential sellers' homes so as to win instructions and get a foothold in the local area. Shameful.

I'm pretty sure that this is going to go down like a lead balloon, but Maplin Electronics is opening up where Currys used to be on St John's Road. Great news for rioters, you'd think. Don't be so sure - the planning application on Wandsworth's website alludes to a pretty impregnable exterior of brushed aluminium. Architecturally delightful!
