Tony's not your thing? Brew's breakfasts are pretty epic judging by the queues.

I see that Tony's has applied for planning permission to enlarge the restaurant and also move the opening hours to just the evening. I know that he's been finding it harder and harder recently and did tell me that he'd had enough a couple of months ago, so I wonder whether this is the end of another one of Nothcote Rd's institutions...?

Anyone think it might be a good Idea to open a Toy Store with Sustainable Toys? Or High Quality Boutique style Baby Shop with Items not available at larger retailers?

Let me know! I am working on a business case to open one somewhere in 2013! If you would all hate it! I better know now!

There was an eco friendly baby shop on Northcote Road about 5 years ago (did eco nappies, wipes, bath stuff, potties, blankets, fleeces, toys etc). Can't remember the name now but when it closed I asked why & they said they were moving to premises in Birmingham (whether that truly was the case I'm afraid I don't know!)

Hey
Thank you Jonathan and NuttyMummy

Please find below the link to the online Survey I just made.
Filling this out might help me to proceed with opening a boutique toy shop on North Cote Road!

Thank you for filling this out everyone!

OK thanks for the a lot of many many replies on the survey...
I get it: Definitely not North Cote Road, I live in Earlsfield, I just wonder I can make a decent turnover in Earlsfield!

For those who wonder: I am planning to stock 80% wooden and continental stuff or soft toys. Might do some not-off and the shelve less easy to find LEGO or DUPLO packages.

The webshop should be up and running in a week or two. In a first fase I will have limited brand selection, but already put an order for HABA and a Belgian brand down!

Someone asked for shop as in The Netherlands/Belgium and that is exactly what I was going to do!
I will keep in mind all feedback and suggestions for a second stage in 2013

Ps I doooo need more replies on the survey!

Picking this up again. The luggage/key cutting premises is still vacant and I understand that Northcote Book Shop will close shortly. Any ideas as to who/what/if anyone is taking those spaces up?

Anyone visited the replacement cafe/bakery on Webb's J/w Kelmscot?

you dont mean the bolingbroke bookshop do you? it will be such a shame if that closes down only to be replaced by yet another baby/ toy shop, luckily its too small for an estate agent.....i hope!

The coffee shop which just open where couleur cafe was, is the other branch of Deli Boutique on St John Hill.
You should check it Julian and report back :) (sorry for asking) if you have the time. I wont be able to before the New Year.

But i know the main shop and the owners, we go there regularly enough to be called a regular! My children are in loved with their lasagna and their sausage rolls. Coffee is good, their champagne (oops sparkling wines as it us made outside of champagne) is very decent for the £15 price tag. I d say their wines are not great.
They are very hard working people, she is very nice he could do with dome stress management techniques as he can be grumpy but hey it is part of the charm!

Didnt realised the rents went up so much, so is Atelier and the Roses florist closed? She did my wedding bouquet and my child posie (spell?)

Atelier shut no sign of life or future development. And the Roses florist has the big 'to let' sign above but trading the last time I passed.

Atelier's is a huge space with a basement(?). For someone with a bold vision........er not me then ;)

There are already two toy shops - why would another one be needed?

I can't see a shop selling 'right on' toys working. It's a nice idea but I know that my son wants: skylander, ninja turtles and Angry Birds for Christmas.

When it comes to choosing Xmas and birthday toys for any child over two than the parents are going to buy toys the child has expressed an interest in wanting - not ones the parents want them to have.

I hope so too because his service is really good. He can get books in stock just as quick as Amazon.

Alas the bookshop is closing. He is having a closing down sale right now and there are some excellent discounts on some classic and comtemporary titles.

Shame we should have used our feet instead of clicking with the mouse shouldn't we? He did say though, and the information is posted in the shop, that the business rates were the crippling factor.

I don't know what/who is replacing him but there are a couple of empty shops now on Northcote - not good.
