Dog walker recommendations anyone?

Postby hazel15malwood » Mon Dec 02, 2013 10:25 pm

Our wonderful dog walker is moving out of London so I need to find a new dog walker from mid December for our bichon/poodle cross. We live off Clapham Common Westside and only need a couple of walks a week to cover the times when I'm at work. I'd like someone who would walk her from home to and from either Clapham or Wandsworth Common and happily interact with her on her walk. Does anyone have any recommendations for local walkers please? Thanks in advance,
Hazel.

Hi hazel my mother in law is a dog walker.
She lives just by cedars road, and walk at least 10 dogs in the local area throughout the week.
Her walks usually take place on clapham common or Wandsworth common.

Hi Hazel,
I live quite local and happy to take on occasional walks in the week! I live in between Clapham and Wandsworth Commons so happily use both for walks. And right now I'm running (quite literally..) a special offer for new clients that first week's walks will go to Mayhew Dogs Home as I'm running in their Santa 10k run this Sunday.
I've been in to the Westside Vets and they know me there if that's your local vet. I would love to meet you and your dog this week to see if you have time - you can reach me on 07709.55.66.91
Hope to hear from you!
Thank you : )

We started to use the Dogfather after a referral here - they have been really helpful and good and the dog seems very happy….

Thanks everyone for your responses and helpful suggestions. As it happens, a friend saw my post and has offered her services, which is perfect as she already knows us and the dog!

For anyone else who may be looking for a dog walker or dog boarding my dog walker Diane from www.offthelead.com 07711 923718 is brilliant.
She genuinely loves all her charges, mine is particularly lazy and is really a fair weather creature but even he runs off happily with Diane. She takes them in small regular groups so they get to know their walking pals and makes their walks interesting, pics are posted on the website so you get to see what they've been up to.
She picks up Between the Commons every day and also offers fab home from home boarding, our dog escaped to her for a week when he was getting super stressed from all the fireworks we had going off nightly round here.
Really can't recommend her highly enough.

I used the Dogfather’s dog walking services and had a VERY BAD experience, and the reason I am sharing this is to prevent this happening again to another dog. They ignored my completed questionnaire and verbal request for my 2.5yr old yorkie not to be taken off the lead, and the third time he was walked, he was attacked by another dog in their care when they threw a ball into the group. His eye was completely crushed and had to be removed. The incident was treated like a business transaction where the priority was just to protect the Dogfather's own interests - and I was lied to at the time, because the same dog is still being walked, off the lead and without a muzzle. After handing over my happy healthy dog to the Dogfather’s team and getting him back with his face torn apart, I would never recommend this service and would urge any dog owner to be very careful about who they trust with their pets.
