We'd like to get a tablet (or kids version of) for our 6 year old to use, and share with 4 year old although he is less interested at present. What would anyone recommend, what do your kids have / use? We don't currently have a tablet so have nothing to go on...
Haha that has to be a record even for here, 4 posts and a JUDGEMENT comes flying in.
But to answer OP, Kindle Fire for Kids is the way to go. Get one of the big silicone cases in a bright colour and it will be hard to lose and tough when dropped. It's a great bit of kit for the price and I suspect they just break even on them. Opt for the kids subscription stuff too on Amazon and for a low price they get all the safe content they (or you) could ever need.
It's a good choice and worst case scenario should you need to replace it you are looking at "only" £50 or so. It really is the best value on the market. We got cases similar (not exactly) to these ones on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/322404045879 rather than paying the slightly inflated Amazon price. We have 2 in our house (thank God for Nana and Black Friday) so each one is in a different coloured case. It's also well worth subscribing to the kids content that Amazon offers with the Kindle Fire for kids.
You set up the Kindle with an adult Amazon account so you can indeed use it after bedtime with your own secure log in.
