Northcote Road restaurant ideas?

Postby Writerlady » Wed Apr 19, 2017 12:00 pm

I know this has been asked many times but things change so often on Northcote Road I thought I would try for some advice hot off the press! Meeting up with some old friends who love Northcote Road but now live out of town. Needs to be there, or Battersea Rise, as they are coming into Clapham Junction on the train. Just looking for a fun night out with great food, not a chain restaurant if possible. Don't want wildly 'posh' or wildly £££!! Just great food and nice wine in relaxed setting. Is the Bolingbroke still good? Thanks all.

Bolingbroke is good but not cheap.

For a budget night out, with excellent food and service (and wine), it is hard to beat Buona Sera.

My suggestions would be Soif or Osteria Antica Bologna. Other interesting options - Cornish Tiger, Bababoom, Sinabro (but I haven't tried these myself).

Fab ideas. Many thanks! Doesn't need to be budget exactly - just not Chez Bruce!
Will check out all suggestions!

Second the recommendations for Soif and Sinabro. Have been to both many times and never disappointed.

Bababoom on BR is simple but very tasty food and always packed every night I've been there if you like Lebanese.

Sadly Cornish Tiger has closed.

Wasn't too impressed with Fixed. Bolingbroke is too hit or miss to take any more chances.

Antica Bologna is always our local Italian choice.

Buona Sera always a winner - go slightly later to avoid the families with gorgeous youngsters if you are meeting up with friends.

Another option - Banana Tree - but get there a little earlier so you dont have to queue!

If you fancy something a little up the road - try The Northcote - good food or my fave - Powder Keg!

Love Soif, not the usual place you think of with kids - but sometimes you just need some real grown up food. The ladies and I love it, plenty of space during the day, buggy buzzer, high chairs and real food/wine.

Stumbled in yesterday to find 25% off all food and drinks between 12 and 3pm !!

Sinabro is great but quite pricey and quite small inside - same issue with Bababoom.

Fixed is simple and very tasty but somewhat lacking in atmosphere. If the owners are reading this, would you please remove some tables so it wasn't so crammed? Whilst it's still quite empty most days, it's deterring customers with buggies (I do however eat there quite a lot, especially at lunch).

I would also recommend Numero Uno - delicious Italian food.

Metro Pizza is a more budget option and has a real Italian feel to it.
