Hi,
I felt the opposite if anything - that coil was the worst thing that ever happened to me. It caused me so much pain over the 4 years I had it, that at one point I passed out in pain.

I'm now on Cerazette and have been bleeding constantly for the past two months so I'm at a loss where to go next.

Hopefully you will feel better soon and your cycle will get back to normal. It might be worth downloading an app so you can track your cycle.

I think mirena coils are brilliant - moods much more stable (less monthly ups & downs), periods almost non-existent, skin has improved plus of course its v effective contraception. if you're struggling after it's removal, i'd just ask your GP about having another one reinserted?

I had a terrible time with the Mirena coil and was happy to have it removed, which required a dental anaesthetic in a place where I really thought I'd never have such a thing. However, I have friends who were very happy with it and had no problems that I heard of after its removal.

I wonder if it has to do with the exact stage of womanhood (as it were) that you're in and there's no measuring that.

Unfortunately the coil affects women differently and it’s to do with the hormones. Moods may not be impacted whilst some others will. I had my coil removed and within 8 weeks my periods were back to normal, regular, heavy and lasted a long time. Had the coil put back in and it’s taken a while for it to reduce them again but overall it depends on the female and how their body reacts

Really sorry to hear from those who have trouble wearing Mirena (or else what happens once it's removed) from my side I can nothing but laud the product as I don't feel it, it has (at my tender age of 47) very neatly brought the annoying periods to a non-existent level. How effective it is contraceptionally I cannot actually say as my husband (who had never that strong in that department) stopped sleeping with me altogether once our son had been born but the sporadic sexual intercourse I have had since then (different men) hasn't generated a pregnancy so I'm assuming it works (but then fertility levels must be right down at my age anyway). I had it fitted four years ago and would definitely recommend it but I see what happens once I need it swapped next year.... at least you've made me aware of this so thank you
