Small house move

Postby Pud1 » Sun Jun 24, 2018 9:32 am

I’ve sold my home but purchase has fallen through so I’ll need to rent. Can anyone recommend a removal company that will undertake a small move, ie, not a huge amount of furniture. I’d be moving some stuff to storage and some to the rental property. I’d also want help packing.

Try House Elf http://houseelf.co.uk/about-us/ they do everything and anything and have helped me move twice.

Other moving companies - Aussie Man & Van I have used for moving stuff to a rental out of London as well as moving between storage and rentals.

Both companies really helpful, efficient, professional and fun crowd, and much more reasonably priced than some of the well known big names around here. It might be an idea to move on a Monday or Tuesday rates should be lower and they may have more staff and van availability.

Thank you for your reply. Do these companies pack stuff and supply boxes too?

Aussie Man & Van are part of the Aussie Removals group so they do the full range, so yes I imagine supply packing up and boxes.
House Elf are much more all round home/anything services, which may suit as they are flexible and can work out cheaper. I know they would pack, and go and get boxes etc not sure if they supply the materials per se say like another large removals company or Big Yellow. But both companies turned up to mine with spare packing materials (boxes, tape, blankets) and stuff needed for a move.

I had packed all my own boxes so can't answer definitively - you are probably best off phoning them tomorrow morning and explaining your specific requirements. There are often posts on here about people wanting to pass on their packing boxes as well.

Other thing to think of is parking restrictions and suspensions.

Good luck I hope it all works out smoothly for you, it's a whole load of hassle!

I used OIS Removals recently to move and store our downstairs furniture during a renovation. I thought they were really great and much cheaper than the bigger companies. They spent a lot of time wrapping and tapping all our furniture in blankets which I wasn't even expecting. They were also very flexible with timings and sent the same team back with the furniture when we were ready for it which was helpful as they knew how to put it all back together , where to put it etc and they were lovely guys.
One tip someone told me was to use the same company for the removal and the storage so if items get lost or damaged you know who is to blame.

Thank Balhamite. Definitely like the idea of a company who will pack, store, move and clear!
