Scam phone alert - pretending to be HMRC

Postby juliantenniscoach » Wed Jul 18, 2018 4:00 pm

Scam phone call. Beware of any calls from 0203 286 0025. They pretend they are from HMRC and quote a reference number like 812076 referring to legal action.  They will ask you for details but definitely a scam.  I have checked on HMRC twitter page. 100% scam.

Thanks for posting this.

I've had this a few times and although I Googled it and felt sure it was a scam it was still pretty stressful!

Thanks Julian!

Oh the joys of 'Officer Mike Henry'! I had this call last week and an American / Indian accented person calling me Ma'm - a bit of a giveaway it wasn't HMRC. I just couldn't resist being a menace. Having been told that an officer was coming round to take payment from me, and me explaining I needed to go out, I called back to ask them to hurry up as it was interrupting my day. 'Can you come and meet me in Waitrose?' I asked. I was further 'threatened' with an arrest, and confiscation of my dog as it was a 'removable asset'. Not sure a very flatulent, snoring and lazy Frenchie with a whopping insurance premium is 'an asset. I sailed around Waitrose - needless to say, free of being arrested......

Everything is full of scams these days

People knocking at doors making £££s pretending to raise money for the old donkey society and pocketing the cash

Folk allegedly putting fake reviews of nannies up on nappy valley and trying to take work (see separate post)

The b******s who sold me a weeks villa holiday, took my deposit and when I turned up found it had burned down

Cowboy builders who are everywhere in nappy creek who take a deposit and run or worse, don’t complete jobs on time.

Those two-for-one offers at The supermarket not properly loaded onto the system and you end up not noticing until you have paid two-for-two

Now these friendly people masquerading as tax inspectors who threaten to take my dog if I don’t pay money.

Christ, I’m as mad as hell and I can’t take it anymore !
