Have you used a colour consultant for your home and would you recommend them?

Postby ChilledMum@Balham » Mon Aug 06, 2018 6:44 pm

Hello,

Before we decorate our home, I am keen to hear if anyone has used colour consultants and if that made a visible difference?

If you have used this service, any advice and recommendations will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Used one once and it was great.

They didn’t do anything revalatory - just had more confidence that I would have done.

Try Paint the Town Green and ask them for a recommendation - I can’t remember who we used but it came from them.

Hi, we used Farrow and Ball in Northcote road when we finished our Basement. We thought it was excellent and really helped us both with the Basemevt colour scheme as well as the rest of the house.

We had a general idea of the base colour we wanted to work around and they did the rest. Highly recommend.

Hello Chilled Mum,

Choosing the right colours will make a huge impact on your home.

I'm a local interior designer and offer a full colour consultancy as part of my service, be that simply for paint colours or other furnishing items to go with this.

If you'd like a chat or to meet up please do give me a call or send an email.

You can also see some of my work on my website and instagram (details are below).

Kind regards,

Emma

Hi ChilledMum@Balham,

Very worthwhile question! As Rumour Mill mentioned us, I just had to jump on and let you know what we do as we do offer colour consultancy. Paint the Town Green is a local decorating company. We are based on Allfarthing Lane in Wandsworth and are London's first environmentally-friendly decorating company. We decorate using whichever paint brand is specified (there isn't much about paint we don't know). We do also have our own range of fine, high quality designer eco-paint.

We offer a free colour consultancy ourselves, either in the showroom or if you are wanting a quote at your home. Choosing colour comes down a lot to confidence. Where a colour consultant however can really add value is offering experience on light and colour themes that a person might not have thought of - whether that be colour combinations themselves or the application of. For example, whether to put colour above or below dado and picture rails and whether to paint the woodwork the same colour as the walls. Every which way you work it creates a slightly different look or feel.

We have 42 colours in our range including an exclusive Nicky Haslam collection, The Stones. If you would like a colour chart, I can pop one in the post. You can either reach me at showroom@paintthetowngreen.biz or call on  020 8871 0531 or quite often customers direct message me via Instagram. We'd be delighted to discuss your refurbishment project. We are open 9-4 Tues- Fri and we have also in our showroom a few choice brands for other items like wallpaper too which helps bring the creative process to life.

We are not interior designers, like Emma Green. We are however just happy to share our years of experience with people and our expertise in decorating itself.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your home redecorating!

Kind regards

Jo

We too used farrow and ball in Northcote Road. They have someone who comes to the house for a visit in order to advise. Thought it was great!!
The paint colours in the whole house flow very nicely, so would definitely recommend.

I used Little Greene.

They definitely are great in terms of making sure all of the paint elements within a room match 1 and those aspects you can see from other rooms work too.

One thing I would recommend is that you sort flooring and major things going in the room first. I tried to do paint colour first and it meant we had to have a rethink after picking the flooring!

Also trust them! I waited about a year before buying the paint when we had ours and subsequently went a few shades lighter with some of the options and those are the rooms I regret!

Finally the discount you get off paint at both farrow and ball and little Greene makes a colour consultant worthwhile - our discount was more than the cost of the colour consultant.

Good luck!
