Clearly God doesn’t love you, that’s why you’re in a wheelchair

Postby South London Joiner » Tue Oct 16, 2018 12:37 pm

This was the abuse a young lady in a wheelchair suffered yesterday on The 118 bus
To Brixton.

This gentleman refused to vacate the wheelchair space when asked to and then became abusive to her. Stating God gave you both barrels and the Clearly God doesn’t love you that’s why you’re in a wheelchair.

She has a daily struggle whilst travelling to work every day and on this occasion the driver did not even come to he aid.

This is absolutely disgusting.

And why hasn't the bus driver intervened?

I've just looked up TFL's guidelines to bus drivers on wheel chair access (the latest I can find is Oct 2017) and I think it's too soft frankly. I know bus drivers shouldn't put themselves at risk but they should be able to confront unhelpful and abusive passengers like this and ask him to leave.

The guidance says that the driver can ask the person blocking the priority area to move, but if they really don't budge, then they have to ask the wheel chair user to disembark and then they should call the garage to let the next bus coming know that a wheel chair user is waiting at the bus stop. See link below:

Is it just me or is that total madness! Those areas are clearly marked as priority areas! Some people really have some nerve!!
