Simply Extend / Builder Team - any views ? Post Reply

I am considering instructing a company called Simply Extend to do some major construction in my house.  I understand that they use as a subcontractor a company called Builder Team that I do not think is connected with Build Team.  Has anyone experience of Simply Extend and/or Builder Team and are they reliable ? Thank you

We used them 5 years ago and they did an okay job in the end but I wouldn't recommend them.
Simply Extend gave us a what seemed a good value quote but there will be hidden extras and also sloppy work, low skilled workers and workers not showing up and going over the agreed timescale.l for completion.
If we could do it again, we would go with Doran Brothers. Everyones extension I've seen who have used them look very high standard. The company directly employs their workers and they seem to work with integrity and to high standards and owners live locally. And no hidden extras!
Basically, really examine the quotes you are given. The cheaper ones are not always actually as good value as they may appear.

Basically, a lot of the problems with these companies are due to subcontracting workers. So there is a chain of people earning and very low paid labourers actually doing the work. And lack of accountability as a result when the boss of the company is so far removed from the project.

Hey There,

We used Lenny @ Hamilton Walters for ours last year and I cant fault them. You deal direct with the owners which just felt better for us. We had a few larger companies come and quote but they just wasnt personal enough for us. Price and time scales where comptitive and their references all passed the test as they were able to invite me to one of thier on-going projects not far from our house, where I was able to speak to their client and get their view and experience working with them too.
