We're counting down to half term in our household and looking forward to a day on the Southbank at the Imagine Festival.
We've got tickets to see David McKee in conversation with children's writer and TV presenter Cerrie Burnell, celebrating the 30th year of the brilliant Elmer the Patchwork Elephant and talking about his career in writing, illustration, animation and design. As a child of the 70s/80s I can't wait (loved Mr Benn!), and as it's recommended for children aged 8-12, I'm sure it'll be a hit with my two boys - one very arty and both love a good story.
David McKee has written and illustrated over 50 picture books and has penned a number of children's classics. His most famous creation, Elmer, remains one of the most iconic and widely read children's book series of all time, selling over 10 million copies worldwide in more than 50 languages.
There are still some tickets left if you're at a loose end on Monday, and with everything else going on for the Imagine Festival (13th to 24th Feb) - much of it for free - and all the foodie options on the Southbank, we'll be making a day of it. Not a bad start to half term..
