Hi all, I work at The Physiological Society (a science charity) and wanted to share the following for any budding astronauts out there:

The Physiological Society is excited to announce that it is launching a competition for 5-14-year-olds to share their ideas on how humans might make the difficult trip to Mars and survive among the challenging conditions on the planet. The winning schools will receive £500 each while finalists will be given the opportunity to meet an astronaut in London on 7 September 2019. NASA astronaut and physiologist, Dr James Pawelczyk, will be at the Royal Institution on Saturday 7 September 2019 to share his experience and ideas on space travel in a talk entitled, “What price a Martian: Human limits to exploring the red planet.” This will be a great event for families, full of inspiring, space-themed activities, developed by physiologists from across the country. The competition will run in the lead-up to this event, and three finalists from each age category (5-7 years, 8-11 years and 12-14 years) will be invited to attend, along with their parent/guardian(s), to meet James Pawelczyk. Up to £300 will be awarded to support travel, and the winners of each category will be announced after James’ talk. The deadline for entries is Sunday 28 July 2019.
