Lister vs Chelsea & Westminster IVF Experiences

Postby Mdmsw » Fri Feb 28, 2020 2:19 pm

Looking for experiences of IVF at the Lister and C&W. Keen to hear detailed thoughts including who you saw rather than just whether you were successful. Trying to decide which to go with (both have to be private as I already have a child.
  • How many rounds did you need?
  • What was the cost?
  • Were you a straightforward or complicated case

I have many friends who have been successful at the lister. I myself went straight to the ARGC - highly recommend if there is anything complex or you are a little older. Be warned it intense but worth every minute and penny

We were treated at The Lister and had a very good experience. We saw Jaya Parikh. Just 1 round needed.
But I have 2 friends who were not straight forward cases at all, having been through multiple failed rounds at other hospitals. Both were successful on their first attempt at the lister. One had a previous child but really struggled second time round. Both had struggled to keep a pregnancy past 12 weeks. They definitely listen to all your background and make very in depth assessments of anything that could affect the outcome. All these extra tests aren’t cheap though.
Good luck with whichever hospital you choose. It’s an emotional rollercoaster but incredible when it’s successful xx

Thank you, I’m glad you had a successful experience. I’m leaning towards the lister as have had previous good experiences there. How did you find Dr Parikh?

I had rounds at both, and found they both pretty awful to be honest.

Lister is a total sausage factory and despite having the initial consultation with a doctor who promised to oversee the round, we only ever saw sonographers and nurses after that. The admin side was pretty chaotic and there were nearly always long waits before being seen.

C&W wasn’t much better but the worst thing about them is they don’t properly sedate for egg collection.
I was in the worst pain imaginable for the collection, and then got told off by a miserable nurse because my ‘groaning and shouting’ was scaring the women in the waiting room.

I would give another vote for ARGC who showed more compassion and personalised care than anywhere else we went to
