Early pregnancy scans

Postby Temple93 » Mon Dec 14, 2020 8:21 am

Hi all,

We’ve just found out we’re pregnant after a year of trying, we’d just started the process of having investigations then we got our little surprise!
We were looking into having an early pregnancy scan at around 8 weeks, to bridge the gap between now and our first NHS scan.
Is this something that you recommend? Advise against? Or any suggestions of where to go for it?
We live just off northcote road - more local the better!

Thanks 😊

Hi, The Fetal Medical Centre on Harley Street is excellent. They are extremely thorough. Professor Nicolaides, who heads it up, is a pioneer in this field. Also, it is non-profit and everything they make gets invested back into research.

We also went here. Thought it was a very good place

Thanks both for the suggestion!

I think we’re booking for our scan there next week, fingers crossed all is okay.

I used https://wandsworth.heybaby4d.co.uk and they were wonderful.

I did go a bit early (baby was conceived a week then my estimated dates) which meant there was no heart-beat when we first went which was very distressing for me. They were lovely and told me to come back 2 weeks later and all was well - I'm in my 7 month of pregnancy now. I've also since gone back for a 4D scan.

I would say do it but play it safe on the 8 weeks and maybe wait until week 9 if you can to avoid issues like I had x
