Nanny costs

Postby Kate31_r » Wed Mar 20, 2019 12:45 pm

Hi there - I am looking at childcare options for a 9 month old. Can anyone give me an idea of the gross cost (so inc taxes etc) of employing a nanny for approx 40hrs per week over 4 days. I am currently trying to weigh up the nanny vs nursery option.

Thanks!

We pay our live out nanny £32k for 50 hours a week (8-6 Monday-Friday).

It works out (with employers NI and pension contributions) around £3,200 a month.

For a 55 hours week (Mon to Fri 8am -7pm) we pay our live out nanny £47K gross a year, which is about 12/hour net for her.  I think this might be the higher end of the going hourly rate.
This costs us over £4300 a month, including employers NI, pension contributions and tax.
