Recommendations for private nurseries in Earlsfield

Postby DeepaNair » Tue Mar 04, 2014 1:40 pm

Hi all,

We have just moved into the Earlsfield area and find the trek to our 3yo's current nursery on West Hill Road a bit much..given I am a pregnant mum with PGP!!!

Looking to move nurseries and we have applied to the local schools in the area, but I was looking at recommendations for private nurseries given the very likely chance that we dont get into any of the local school nurseries!!

TIA

There is The Colour Box Montessori on Magdalen Road - across from the Sainsburys. I don't have kids there but have friends who do.

You are looking for a school type nursery or are you looking for a day nursery 9-6pm?

We would like to know about both actually...coz while I am going to be on maternity leave from April and so could do a nursery offering term time...my son only goes to school from September 2015 and I return to work on March 2015, so we would need a 9-6pm nursery at that point..

Will check out Colour Box.

Thanks

Hi

The day nurseries I know of in Earlsfield are as follows:

- Magdalen Nursery on Magdalen Rd. I've heard good things but seems very experience
- Sticky Fingers on Garratt Lane - they only take from 18 months. I know a couple of people with children there that are happy with the nursery
- Teddies Southfields - It is rated Outstanding by Ofsted I think but also seems very expensive. I heard some children move to Sticky Fingers at 18 months
- Mayfield Nursery - off of Burntwood Lane on Springfield hospital site. My son is currently there and I have been happy with it. Some recent financial difficulties which almost forced it to close...so new owner (who seems great!). Nursery and the parents rallied and pulled together and it was saved. A lot of space - fab garden, good care. Depending on where you live if you can walk to it but is also very easy to drive and park there. I would recommend.

There is also Beechcroft Nursery on Beechcroft Rd. (so moreWandsworth Common and Tooting Bec) Used to be Wee Care but has changed owners. I know a few people who use to have kids there and were very happy with the place

Hope that helps!

Sorry to hear this. Remember that a lot can change between now and September... wait lists move a lot as people move out of the area etc.
So don't lose hope but it would probably be good to get another plan in place.

Best wishes

hello Deepa,

i would definitely reccommend Sticky Fingers.
my daughter went there from 18 months until she started primary school and we were very happy with it, she was extremely happy there, the staff is fantastic, i don't have a bad thing to say about it at all.

you should go and have a look and speak to them.

My son has been at Teddies for nearly 14 mths now and i can highly recommend it. The prices go down at both 2 years and 3 years as the ratios and free hours come in so i think it becomes far cheaper, but don't know how that compares to other nurseries.

The care at Teddies has been great, albeit my son is only 2 so i am yet to experience it as a formal pre-school.

Hello

got the question about sticky finger
My dd starting the nursery form september but I cant calculate the rates. The nursery is close for 2 weeks during summer and 2 weeks at xmas.
Is it
5 days rate x52:12
or
5 days rate x48:12 ?
Can any one tell my how much is full time at SF ??

My daughter who is 2 1/2 has been at sticky fingers 1 year, and it's great- she loves it. They don't have a day rate per se as it gets cheaper the more care you have. We go 3 days a week, approx, £60 per day (8-6). You don't pay in the weeks when it's shut. It's cheaper on a per day basis if you use it 5 days a week. I think you can also use it like a nursery school(ie 5 mornings term times, but haven't looked into this as won't work for me)
Number 2 will definitely be going there when he's old enough
Hope you find somewhere that works for your child
