Need advice-when to start searching for a childminder

Postby Dominika_RN » Sun Apr 13, 2014 9:12 pm

Hi,
I'm a first time mum to be and I am not sure how to find a good childcare for my baby. I was thinking of getting a childminder as getting a place in a nursery seem almost impossible.
When and where would you start searching for one? I'll need someone for December/january.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'd start looking now.

Obviously it's hard for childminders to be able to predict what their availability will be like, but I think it's still worth starting.

I know of 2 FAB childminders, one in SW12 and one in SW11, like I say, no idea what their availability will be like in December, but I can put you in touch if you like. My little boy has been to both (and will continue to go to the one in SW11 when I return to full time studying/work).

Good luck.

Many thanks for the advice, stayathomemum. It would be great if you could give me contact details of your recommended childminders, especially the one fromSW12 as I live in Balham.

I agree to start looking now. I am a childminder and places get taken quick. Also you may need a few meet and greets before you find the perfect one for you and your little :) it may be that you need to hold the place open should you find someone you like but this just gives lots of opportunity for settling in sessions and prep :) good luck x
