Mother's Help/Housekeeper Wanted

Postby EJ2014 » Thu Oct 02, 2014 8:56 pm

Hi there

We are currently looking for a part-time live-out mother's help.

The position will be Monday-Friday, 1.30pm-5:30pm. We are a family of four with a little girl (2) and a baby boy (8-months). We live just off Northcote Road, 5 minutes walk from Clapham Junction. We have two Labrador dogs so our chosen person must be very comfortable with dogs and be willing to help out with dog care.

We are looking for a housekeeper/mother's help to help provide 2 hours of cleaning per day, followed by two hours of childcare. The tasks will include:

- General cleaning and tidying, including bathrooms, kitchen, floors and the garden.

- All family laundry and ironing, including shirts & bed linen.

- Childcare of our two children, including care of our baby son when he wakes up from his lunchtime nap (around 3pm), picking up our elder daughter from nursery at 4pm (a five-minute walk away) and feeding them both dinner.

- Cooking simple dinners for the children and helping to make baby food.

- Occasional dog care, including dog walks (and unfortunately, this also means picking up the dog poo when they go!).

The qualities we are looking for are:

- A good level of English is essential

- A proactive and enthusiastic person with a good background in both cleaning in childcare

- A friendly, energetic person that loves children and dogs and has some childcare experience.

- First aid training would be preferred but is not essential – we will arrange first aid training if the right candidate does not have it.

- Driving license is not required.

I work freelance so I do not intend to be in the house during most of the housekeeper’s working hours but will be close by working from a coffee shop, should I be needed. I will be around for the first few weeks to ensure the children feel comfortable with the housekeeper.

Since this is a half-day position, we are happy to job share with another family. We will also regularly offer babysitting work. This is a long-term position and we are looking for a housekeeper who will become a trusted member of our family.

From working in nurseries and traveling to many countries, I have a well rounded knowledge of different cultures enabling me to relate well to any child.

JULY 2009 –2011
THE JACKEL FAMILY – AFTER SCHOOL NANNY
I was in sole charge of 2 children aged 6 and 9 years old from 3pm onwards. This position required collecting the children from school and either taking them on play dates or back to the house for homework and games. Other daily duties included preparing the children healthy well balanced meals.

JUNE 2008 – JULY 2009
THE CHAPMAN FAMILY – FULL TIME NANNY
Again, I was in sole charge of 2 children, although much younger at 4 years old and 18 months old. As they were not school age, I cared for them full time throughout the day, encouraging them with their learning and development and helping them to stay happy healthy children in a safe and fun environment. My other duties included cooking their meals and keeping their rooms and the rest of the house tidy.

JANUARY 2008 – MAY 2008
MODERN MONTESSORI NURSERY – NURSERY NURSE
Working in the Montessori Room with children aged between 2 and 5 years of age, I was required to set up and create activities which were age appropriate for the children following the E.Y.F.S curriculum including writing observations and lessons for their developmental needs. There was always plenty of activity, so my basic skills were tested to the limit – singing, reading stories, baking, coordination games and outside activities. I also had key children who needed special one to one reading attention to help them enjoy books.

JANUARY 2005 – DECEMBER 2007
RUSKIN HOUSE SCHOOL – NURSERY NURSE
This was my very first childcare position (excluding babysitting) which enabled me to learn many aspects of childcare development, with many ages. Originally starting as a Nursery Assistant, I worked my way up to nursery nurse which meant that I initially worked with very young children aged from 6 months upwards, later moving to the upper floor to work with the older children.
