Has anybody employed a kiwioz nanny over skype? Post Reply

Hi all - we are looking to get a new live in nanny after having a bit of a bad run with au pairs. I'm using an agency who finds Australians and New Zealand nannys. However i've received some cv's and some want to come straight into a job rather than meeting them face to face and just through skype. Their CV's look amazing so i'm sure they could do the job but it's about meeting face to face.

has anybody had any experience of this and if so did it work? x

We employed our New Zealand au pair (found through Au Pair World) via Skype interview and so far, so good (she's been here 8 weeks). I took up three references from people she'd worked for, and also had contact with her mum. In our case, the Skype chats (x 2) did provide a reliable indicator of the sort of person she is. It helped that she also kept a blog which she was happy for me to look at, so that also gave a flavour of her and her interests.
